LAKE SINCLAIR IS DOWN 2.2 FEET, 76 DEGREES, STAINED TO CLEAR

Bass fishing is fair and the shad spawn is in full swing on most of the lake, and bass are feeding on them in some areas. Bait choices have been more varied this year because the lake is more clear than normal for this time period. During most years a small spinner bait is hard to beat. A ¼ ounce white spinner bait has produced limited success this year, along with small shallow crank baits, Tiny Torpedo, Chug Bug, Fluke, and original Rapala. There’s been some top water success not related to the shad spawn. Docks, blow downs, and points are producing bites from several different top water baits. A Trick worm rigged weightless with a small swivel 8 inches to 10 inches above the worm has also produced. Primary and secondary points and flats are holding post spawn fish that will hit the Carolina rig. Try a Zoom Finesse or Trick worm on a 2 foot leader with a half ounce weight. Docks and boat houses are probably holding more fish than any other cover. Deeper docks have gotten better than they were for most of the spring. Deep docks with brush are even better. Senko’s, Dead Ringer’s, and other worms can be cast, flipped, or pitched under the dock or to each post. Carolina rigs can be retrieved along the sides and front of docks. A very small percentage of bass are still bedding; most have finished. But the angler that likes to sight fish could still find a few bedding bass.
