While fishing the barrier island beachfronts!

Here’s Glenn catch list: All the whiting a man could want and many doubles of all sizes. Best bait was peeled shrimp or strips of mullet. And both baits worked equally well. Only a few bull whiting mixed in, but still a lot of keeper good eating size. Lots of dink summer trout and bluefish mixed in with whiting. The Atlantic sharpnose sharks have arrived in force, which boils down to all the hook ups that you care to have. The best news and also the best part of this report is that Glenn could not keep any size cut bait in the water very one before he was hooked up! Now this is one good fish catching report! Thanks Glenn and please keep them coming! Please know it is illegal to shark fish on Tybee Beach!

    Inshore bite!

Inshore report brought straight to from Captain Matt Williams of Miss Judy Charters
Inshore fishing has been a little tough due to extremely high winds as well as increased water prompting stronger than normal currents as well as muddy water conditions. Believe me I just named conditions that an inshore much less offshore fisherman doesn’t care for. However, according to Captain Matt that goes out almost every day can see where fish are starting to call these changes the norm. All of this boils down to the fact that we all want less windy days, but it seem we get more of them than not. So therefore, you might as well get use to it, because believe it or not the fish are!

Captain Matt Williams always suggests taking live shrimp with you especially at this time of the year. He always has what he calls standby live bait, which are the old reliable mud minnow. According to Captain Matt they ride well and they are hardy meaning you can keep them alive for many days. He suggests keeping your mud minnows in a small float bucket and putting this right in your live well. This way they are easy to transport, easy to collect, and don’t get mixed in with the live shrimp. He also suggests securing your mud minnow float bucket inside your well. That way when riding you don’t beat them up. After all mud minnows just love a good boat ride in the old live well!

I asked why take the old standby mud minnows as bait? Captain Matt replied, “If you happen to run out of shrimp or not this bait will work and sometimes it changes the bite pattern just enough to make a better biting difference!” Spoken like someone that knows what he is talking about! So there you have it!

While fishing with Captain Matt Williams, Colbi Copeland caught this nice redfish!

    Jeremy Morgan

While fishing with Captain Matt Williams of Miss Judy Charters in raging winds as well as muddy water conditions Roger Efaw, Dale Efaw, and Jeremy Morgan still had a good day of catching in the inshore waters.
