LAKE RUSSELL IS .77 FEET OVER FULL & 83 DEGREES
Bass fishing is barely fair early and late. Spots seem to be the majority of the bass being caught, but some largemouth are still being caught. As the low pressure front moves out, fishing should get better. The top water bite is dead slow. The bass are in deeper water holding close to stumps and other submerged structure. Use a Zoom June Bug u tail worm on a Carolina rig fishing in the deeper water. This pattern should hold for another week or two or as long as the heat and high water temperatures hold. Fishing the Carolina rig very slowly is the key to getting the better bites and bigger fish. Also, continue fishing the main lake points that run out into the channel. It will be really important to check out the feeding tables before you go. The bass seem to have a case of "lock jaw" during the off peak hours. As the new moon approaches, the daytime fishing should improve somewhat. Ask Ken for a sample of the BASS FISHING LAKE RUSSELL book.
