LAKE ALLATOONA IS FULL, STAINED & 80’S
Bass fishing is good. The fishing is good despite the water temp being 85 degrees. Jig head worms like the big bite shaky squirrel and squirrel tail worms on a 3/16 jig head fished on main lake point as well as a drop shot fished on bluff walls. The fish are settling in to a full blown summer pattern and won't change a lot till mid September. The fish are just now getting into brush and you need to use the Lowrance sonar to hunt them and then catch'em. Also try the Mini Me spinnerbaits in the Allatoona Special color on the windy days on windblown points and pockets when the wind is blowing. Also use the Lucky Craft Flashminnow MR during this time of year as well especially if there is no wind. On the retrieve for both the Mini Me and the Flashminnow use a very rapid retrieve to trigger those fish into biting your bait as that is the key right now. They need to see racing stripes zooming buy them and this will get them into their investigative mode and attack your baits. Fast retrieve is very important this time of year as well as long casts. Keep the blue pearl Senko and work the points out to 30 feet deep. There are still a lot of 1 to 2 pound fish roaming the main and secondary lake points. Use a Spot Stalker in 3/16th ounce size and rig it with a green pumpkin finesse worm for numbers of fish by just working main lake points.

Line side fishing is great. The summer bite is in full swing. All the major creeks are producing good numbers of fish. The down line bite is nothing short of incredible. These fish are scattered in the water column from anywhere from 13 feet to 40 feet deep. So for right now forget about that 18 foot factor I talk about all the time. Trust your Lowrance and if you are marking fish at 50 feet, go get them. Our best bite right now has been mid lake from Kellogg to Clear Creek. There has also been a very good bite within sight of the Little River Bridge on the north end of the lake. Plus Clark Creek and Tanyard Creek is producing some nice fish right now on the south end of the lake. This is the best time of the year to introduce the kids to fishing.
