LAKE RUSSELL IS FULL, CLEAR & HIGH 80’S

Bass fishing is fair. The fish are shallow for two hours at daylight and a little longer if there is an overcast morning. Small bass are caught up in the shallows using DT6's and Number Five RS Shad Raps. Cast these baits on the sides of the main lake points in close. Use a slow retrieve and even try stopping the bait for a two or three count once in a while. The better the structure on the sides of these points with rock or wood, the better your chances are. The Ito 110 jerk baits in shad patterns can also be slow cranked in these areas. The crank bait bite is usually good until about 9:30 a.m. in the morning and is picking back up around 6:30 p.m. and will last until right before dark. During the heat of the day, get out the light lead head jigs and some trick worms and fish humps and reef markers the rest of the day.
