LAKE HARTWELL IS UP 1.63 FEET OVER FULL POOL. THE MAIN LAKE IS CLEAR AND 79.0 DEGREES, THE BACKS OF CREEKS ARE STAINED AND 83.2 DEGREES
Bass fishing is good. The lake is still up and some ramps are closed due to the high water. The lower lake fish can still be found in the deeper water. We have been catching fish on pearl white flukes early. We have also got a few nice fish on a deep running crank bait like the Strike King 6XD in Chartreuse Herring. When the bite slows, switch to a drop shot finesse worm in Morning Dawn Red, a green pumpkin craw jig or a Fish Head spin in albino color for numbers on spotted bass. Focus on bridge pilings or points on the side the drops the sharpest for this bite. If you are back in the creeks try a black popping frog next to shore line cover in backs of pockets that offer a little deeper water and a good concentration of submerged grass. Rick is available for Guide Trips on Hartwell daily. Come fish with the local legend on Lake Hartwell, Professional Angler Rick Steckelberg.
