LAKE RUSSELL IS .47 FEET OVER FULL & 83 DEGREES
Bass fishing is slow as the "Dog Days" of summer are in full force. Fishing can be tough no matter where you go this time of year. Down sizing your line and baits during the severe heat is a must. The warm water and sluggish conditions means fishing no more than ten pound test line. Four and five inch worms along with three inch Zoom French Fry worms and small dark finesse worms can work. Stay out of the coves and stay on the main lake points and deep ledges. A few anglers are using small versions of the Alabama rig with small swim baits or small grubs as trailers. The channel markers that run the length of the lake usually have deep water close by. So these areas are the best places to fish during the heat. Carolina rigs and small soft plastics and a very slow presentation is a must. The fish will be slow to bite and watching your line might be necessary to determine some strikes.
