LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 3.0 FEET, CLEAR, HIGH 70’S
This Lake Allatoona bass fishing report is by Matt Driver www.5X3nation.org
Big cold front this week. Anytime we see a temperature drop of more than a few degrees it affects fishing whether it's good or bad. As these cold fronts over the next few weeks roll in fishing is great on the own set. Running main lake and secondary points were wind is blowing in is the best deal right now. Especially if you find a blowdown tree or break in the wind. Use a 1/2 or 3/4 ounce spinner bait with a white or chartreuse painted blade and cast it as far as possible and burn back to the boat will draw good bites. It's also becoming the perfect time to throw a larger swim bait such as this Spro BBZ or gliding gizzard baits in 6 in models fished on Sunline Sniper 20 pound test fluorocarbon and a Cashion 7'11 swimbait Rod. If you find a concentration of fish several dates will work such as a Shakey head worm Drop shot and even a jerk bait. But right now, I find it hard to drag a worm with so many active fish. Continue using the buzz bait first thing in the morning and even a popper style bait. Have fun and remember keep moving and looking for active fish.

Line side fishing is fair. The lake is starting to turnover. The cooler overnight temperatures should help move it along. The fish are on the move, but are willing to eat if you’re right on top of them. Down lining tread fins and small gizzard shad will catch you a few, but the better bite is coming on a 1/2ounce white Flex It spoon. The fish are starting to bust top water as well. As we head into late October we look for the top water bite to explode. When this happens and all white Rooster Tail will be our go to bait. It is an easy bait to fish and more importantly it works. As we head into late, October we look for the bigger stripers to start migrating out of the rivers back down to the lakes. The flats out in from of Clear Creek and the once in from of Little River will be key feeding points for these fish. Flat lines and Planner boards with mid to large gizzard shad will be your best bet on catching an Allatoona monster striper. Trolling is decent with the umbrella and color doesn't seem to matter. We are running our rigs 100 feet behind the boat at speeds between 2.4 - 3.1 miles an hour.
