LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 1.5 FEET, LOW 60’S, CLEAR
This Bass fishing report is by Matt Driver.
Bass fishing is fair. With the water level on the decline and then return of serval feet after the rain has got the fishing a little slow. It will take the lake a few days to stabilize and fishing will get better. Even though it may be short lived with another large front coming in middle of next week. For the time being the crank bait is probably the number one bite of choice right now. Crawfish colors, oranges and yellows are the colors of choice. Bites ranging from 3 to 12 foot deep have been really good. Bait like the Spro Rock crawler and striking three XT. The jig bite is also good. Brown and black and blue have been good. Also the Shakey head finance form has been bringing in quite a few fish. I hope to send a better report next week as conditions improve. Personally I am hoping for colder weather.

Line sides fishing is fair. The lake is up and stain. The rain we had the past week has trashed the north end of the lake. The key to catching fish right now is to find clean water. The Hybrid bite is decent one day then tough the next day. This is just the way it is during turnover on Lake Allatoona. The striper bite remains decent. These fish are coming back down out of the river and will take a big gizzard shad on a planner board and or free line early morning and then again late afternoon. The north end of the lake has been fishing best for stripers, but there has also been a few good ones caught mid lake this week. The Hybrids are schooling up and are easy to find. But getting them to eat is a different story. These fish are feeding on very small baits. These schools are on the move. One day we will catch them in the S turns. And the next day we may find them in the channel out in front of Clear Creek. Mid lake is seems to be the overall better bite. These fish are going to have to eat sooner or later. I believe a great fall bite is just around the corner I really expect fishing on Allatoona to break wide open in the next
