LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN 1.8 FEET, UPPER 50’S

Bass fishing is fair. There is an early crank bait bite on the main lake points with a Shad Rap and a Risto Rap in shad or perch patterns. The baitfish is in the fall transition and the bass are feeding up. Also cast the Alabama rig with small pearl Flukes on a light lead head. Try the Try a jigging spoon and drop shot rig. For a jigging spoon, use silver or gold 1/2 ounce jigging spoons. On sunny days use silver, and on cloudy days switch to gold. For drop shot rigs, use a No. 1 Gamakatsu drop shot hook tied 18 inches above a 1/4 ounce drop shot weight. Locate bait offshore in 18 to 20 feet of water. Fish are positioned on structure relating to the main river channel. Once you have located fish, stay put as catching numbers is very possible big fish early on the islands humps and points with A Carolina rigged Zoom lizard, and pick something is green. Later in the day move out on these same areas and fish top water and Zoom Super Flukes around the drops and ledges. The baitfish will move around throughout the day and the bass can school up anywhere so keep the trolling motor on high and watch your electronics. There are also some shallow fish later in the day with the weather still warm on a Zoom trick worm rigged weightless or with a small tungsten weight.
