LAKE ALLATOONA IS 1.43 FEET OVER FULL, CLEAR & 88 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good. The drop shot with big bite shaky squirrel, the Flex It spoon and 15 feet deep seems to be the magic depth. This week we have started using the big bite swimming jerk minnow on a 1/2 oz scrounger with good results. We are glad the bass are more active the past couple weeks. The Spro dawg and a Zara Spook have been producing till around 8:30 or 9:00. Jig fishing has picked up but most fish are being caught between the brush and deeper.

Line side fishing is fair and the cold front we had pass though on Wednesday night gave the fish lock jaw. This makes catching big numbers challenging. The top water bite was really taking off before the front and should pick back up in the next few days. Live bait is still working best, but the trolling bite is really starting to heat up once the sun comes up. This time of the year you need to be open minded when heading to the lake. What worked yesterday, may not work today. This time of year we will take everything but the kitchen sink with us when heading to the pond. Top water, trolling, live bait and spooning gear. The fish are still scattered from Tanyard Creek to Kellogg’s Creek. Use your Lowrance Structure Scan and Down Scan machines to find the fish faster. Most of the fish we caught this week on umbrella rigs where caught by clipping points. And most of the fish we caught this week on live bait where over the river and creek channels. The top water bite has been the best from Clear Creek to Kellogg’s Creek. When these fish do come up, they will eat almost anything. They want the bait moving fast so do not finesse the baits. Just reel until you feel the rods load up. Carters Lake is still the place to be if you want to catch a big fish. This week we caught stripers up to 22 pounds and hybrids pushing 13 pounds. We hear that there will be a new bait store opening up near 411/136 and should be open by the end of October and we will have more details soon.
