LAKE ALLATOONA IS 2.21 FEET OVER FULL, HIGH 50’S, VERY STAINED

This Lake Allatoona Fishing Report has been brought to you exclusively Matt Driver.

Bass fishing is actually good even with high water and trees and debris floating everywhere. The fish are shallow to mid depth. Lipless cranks like the Aruku shad in fire tiger are working well. The green pumpkin Kacy's Kustom 3/8 ounce jig and the Big Bite Yo Momma and fighting frog fish shallow around cover mid to south lake. The river is very muddy would lots of debris right now. There is more rain to come and it will be quite some time before the lake settles back down. Be safe and enjoy the last few days of warm weather.

Line side fishing very good. The bite this pass December has been the best December bite we have seen in years. If the above normal temperatures continue I expect January to be just as good. The big fish have migrated down out of the rivers and into the main lake. The north end of the lake from Fields Landing to Little River has produce some really nice fish lately. These fish are feeding on Big baits. If your patience and willing to pull big bites you will get bit. Large to Jumbo Size gizzard shad fished on Planner Boards and Free lines on the north in is your best bet for a monster fish. If you are looking for numbers mid lake is where you want to be this time of year. Small Gizzard shad, Thread Fins and small trout fished on Planer Boards, Free Lines and down lines just of the river channel from Kellogg's to Iron Hill has been very good to our boats. If you find the fish stacked up on the flats (Galt’s Ferry and Kellogg Creek) it's hard to beat a 1/2 ounce all white Flex It spoon. These same fish will also eat and umbrella rig. I am using a Mack Far three arm fully loaded and pulling it 80 feet behind the boat. This allows me to fish water that is less than 15 feet deep. This has been working really well midday. As we enter into the month look for the bait to start moving south. By the end of the month look for the Allatoona Creek arm to start to heat up.
