Bass fishing is good. The water is slightly stained but getting better. Warm weather should only help out. The football head jig has been getting better as fish move into creeks and outlaying spawning areas. The Kustom kicker red zone football head with a big bite twin tail trailer and 16lb sunline sniper line. Drag the jig slow and shake it if you get into brush or rock piles. Lots of reaction strike as it comes lose. There is also a good jig head bite. The 3/16 shaky head and 4 inch big bite trick stick is working well. We use a 7'2 Cashion Med/heavy spinning rod and 7lb sunline fluorocarbon. Good fish are around blowdowns. Not always in, but around. Good fish staging now.

Line side fishing is good. Big baits for big fish. Smaller bait for better numbers. The water temperatures are still in the high forties and there isn't any sigh of a shad kill. The fish are very aggressive and are crunching live bait. The south end of the lake is fishing better for numbers, but the north end of the lake is producing bigger fish. Flat lines and planner boards with small baits like trout, shiners, gizzards and threadfin shad are the ticket on the south end. But on the north end of the lake a big gizzard shad is your best bet to catch a trophy. As we head into March look for these fish to start to migrate north for the spawn run. The white bass will move up first follow by the Hybrids and Stripers. I look for this to happen sometime around the March full moon.
