  • Kentucky Lake Fishing Report - KY

April is now here and the bass fishing has been really improving on Kentucky Lake. Not that it was bad it’s just getting better. The lake has cleared up but recent rains may stain up the creeks some, just depends on the creek itself.

My best bite has been fishing main lake ledges with A rigs with ZOOM super flukes. We have had some big fish and some really good quality fish. The areas that I have found the big schools of bait, is where I’m finding the big females. Using my Lowrance Structure scan is key to finding these fish. I have been fishing from Paris all the way to New Johnsonville.

I am also fishing the back of creeks catching some good fish on vibrating baits and chatter baits, also a few on square bills. The water was clear this week so I have been using shad patterns, if its stains up after the storms I will go to chartreuse and white or chartreuse and shad patterns. The fish I’ve seen are feeding heavily on shad and sometimes you will see them chasing the bait in the flats. This pattern will continue as the water keeps rising and it will soon be in the yellow flowers (wild Mustard).
