LAKE ALLATOONA IS FULL, 80’S & CLEAR

Bass fishing is changing but still good and early top water fishing is the key. Fish the points and steep banks with a small Zara Spook type walking bait. This bite lasts only a few hours. Be sure to keep your eyes open for any schooling activity. Any schooling means cast a ¼ ounce Scrounger, tipped with a fluke. As the day warms, start fishing any brush or cover with a ¼ Davis Shakey Head. The best worm choice 6” Robo Worm in Kerrlicious color. Night fishing is fair, with some nights better than others. Start your night by casting jigs to steep banks or brush. A green pumpkin jig is a great choice. As darkness hits, break out the crank bait. Fish the main lake points with a DLN or DDZZ and midnight blue or black always work. Also slow roll a ¾ ounce spinnerbait and our choice is a Punisher brand with the short arm.

Line side fishing is HOT! The bite this week has been off the Charts. Some morning our boats are catching over 50 fish. This isn't an everyday thing but this is the best bite we have seen in months. All the major creeks are producing good numbers of fish right now. And the down-line bite is nothing short of incredible. These fish are scatter in the water column from anywhere from 13 feet to 40 feet deep. Shad, shiners and bream are all working. Make sure you catch your bream on hook and line. Be sure to carry plenty of bait and change it often. Frisky bait is the key to putting more fish in the boat, Trolling is working well. We have had some really good days pulling these rigs. Also single buck tails fished a 150 feet behind the boat at 2.4 miles an hour will get you bit. Top Water is good early in the morning and late in the afternoon. And a white rooster tail is hard to beat. It is working well on hybrids, stripers and schooling spots.
