LAKE SINCLAIR IS DOWN .1.5 FEET, CLEAR, 80’S

Bass fishing is good. Top water baits and spinner baits have done well during early morning, catching fish of all sizes. No single early morning pattern stands out, as these two bait types have been good around seawalls, rip rap, blow downs, grass, points, and docks. Spinner baits have been better in dirty or choppy water, while top water baits like Chug Bugs and Pop R’s have produced well in clear to stained and nearly calm water. After the reaction baits have slowed, soft plastics have been the ticket. Brush piles in front of docks have been holding individual fish and groups of bass. Depths are mostly 6 to 14 feet deep in the brush. Texas rigs have been best using various sizes and styles of worms. A Zoom U Tale worm rigged with the lightest weight possible has been good for numbers of fish. An Old Monster worm has been coaxing larger fish into biting. The most important key to success with the large worms has been to fish slowly. Green pumpkin, June bug, red bug, and solid black have been good colors for any of the worms. Points, humps, and edges of flats are holding fish that will hit either Carolina rigs or crank baits. Poe’s 400, and Fat Free Shads are good cranking choices. Shad and chartreuse patterns have both produced some. But Carolina rigs have been a more consistent producer. Finesse and Trick worms are standbys for the Carolina rig, but on some days the bass would rather hit a curl tail worm like a Zoom U Tale or Dead Ringer.
