LAKE JACKSON IS DOWN 2.5 FEET, 60’S

Bass fishing is fair and only some small bass are biting ones and an occasional keeper. The shad are active now on the flats and in the coves and this would be a good time to start early in the morning with your top water baits. Stay mid lake to the dam and fish the inside part of the coves with a crawfish red Shad Rap in the #5 size on light line. Color will depend on the clarity of the water. Work the smaller coves on the south end of the lake and be on the constant lookout for any shad breaking the surface. With the rain that moved through expect the water to be anywhere from a light stain to having a good dark mud line in the shallows. For these kinds of conditions, use a loud crank bait that has a good wide wobble to it like the Wiggle Wart. This lake with all the red clay banks responds well to these baits and is a fall favorite of mine. The creeks and rivers are still producing some keeper bass around the docks and the small rounded points at the mouths of the smaller creeks. Shad Raps and the Wiggle Warts are the best baits to use this week after the top water bite tails off.

SONAR TIPS: HOW TO USE TRAILS: Go to the TRAILS menu and name the trail for today’s date. Now pick a color trails for each day of the week. Sunday BLUE, Monday RED, Tuesday YELLOW, Wednesday GREEN, Thursday OD GREEN, Friday PURPLE, Saturday PINK. Keep the trails you need on and SD card. Delete the trails you do not need. Keep the “POINTS” under 5,000 for any trails.
