Last week's Arctic Blast kept us off the Lake for several days due to the STRONG North Wind and some really COLD temperatures! While we have fished in just about any conditions over the past 16 years of Guiding, it just isn't any fun when the North Winds blow and the thermometer dips below freezing. We sometimes have to talk our customers out of fishing in these conditions, but they most often thank us for doing so when they realize how cold it can be on the Lake!

We were able to get out Friday Afternoon and caught some really nice size Blue & Channel Catfish with the Jenkins Family from the Ft. Worth and Palestine areas. The Sons (See Picture) outfished the Dads and I'm guessing are still talking about it! I conducted two trips on Saturday with the Catfish being targeted in the Morning and the White Bass & Hybrid Stripers in the Afternoon. Once again the Catfish bit good and we filled an Ice Chest. The White Bass were a little more difficult to find and catch but we still ended the Afternoon with enough for a good Fish Fry!

Fishing will continue to be good all Winter! The water temp has cooled to the low 50's, the bite is a little slower, but the fish are often the largest fish you will catch all year! The Catfish can be found in the timbered areas of the Creek Channels and will bite on Danny Kings Punch Bait. We often rely upon several "baited holes" during the Winter months to attract the fish. The Whites and Hybrids are on the Main Lake Humps and Points in water from 25' to 35' feet deep. Silver RSR Slabs lifted verrrry slowly off the bottom will get you a hook up!
