LAKE SEMINOLE IS DOWN 3.4 FEET, CLEAR & 60’S
Bass fishing is slow with the cold temperatures. While there are some fish up on the flats, these fish are very unreliable. The most reliable bite is in deeper water staging areas. Grass points out from spawning flats in the 10 to 15 depth range have been producing. These fish can be caught on crank baits, Texas rigs or Carolina rigs. The best crank baits in the cold clear water are those that have a very tight wiggle. The other good deep water pattern is fishing any of the numerous springs, depressions, or old ponds. These areas offer deeper water and the fish will really stack up in them. There are several ways to catch these fish. If the fish are holding deep out in these areas, a jigging spoon or drop shot is your best bet. Watch for any shad activity on the surface or on the Lowrance Down Scan technology. Bait is the key this week. A Carolina rig will also catch these fish. If the fish are relating to the grass lines along these edges, a crank bait, suspending jerk baits, lipless crank bait, or Texas rig will do the trick. Look for these areas on or near shallower flats, as they seem to concentrate fish better. There are some fish shallow in the creeks. Zoom Bush Hogs on a pegged Texas rig may work on the grass beds but be sure to use a heavy weight to get though the grass. If there is a warm up this week, get the weights off the baits and look in the sandy areas for small bass to start roaming around. Stay down lake to the dam and fish any clearer water with a Zoom all black trick worm and no weight around wood in the creek mouths. Add some scent too.

Lowrance Down Scan technology can scan much wider areas with the narrow beams so anglers can see the bait, the structure and the fish four times better than with sonar. Find the bait and you will find the fish.
