LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 9.6 FEET, 50’S & CLEAR
Bass fishing is good. Water temperatures warming into the mid 50’s and could creep up on 60 soon. The key is shallow. Put you mind in pre spawn mode, not winter. The bass are shallow and we don't see any weather in the near future to send them back deep. The Square bill Bite is still good and there has been a good shallow jerkbait bite as well. The Spro McStick 95 in shad patterns, finished on Sunline 10 pounds Sniper fluorocarbon. There has been a good bite as well along ditches near staging areas. A brown football head jig with a brown Big Bite twin tail grub has been the ticket. We are getting to the point that fish our own just about any pattern you want to fish. Even though we are about three weeks to a month out from the spawn, I would not doubt if we see spawning type behavior in the near future. To be honest I wish we would have some cooler weather coming in soon to prolong spring.

Line side fishing is excellent. The white bass, stripers and hybrids fishing is fantastic. The live bait bite right now is great using shad, shiners or trout. Fish these baits on free lines and planer boards right at sun up. After the sun comes up, we have been changing over to all down lines. The north end of the lake has slowed down a little since the recent rains, but should return very shortly. The fish where staging for the spawn run but where pushed back south mid lake because on the rolling mud that is coming out of the rivers. Mid lake is fishing very good right now from Kellogg's Creek to Clear Creek. The south end of the lake is also starting to heat up. Iron Hill is starting to produce some really nice fish right now. The numbers are better mid lake north, but if you are after size then down head south.
