LAKE ALLATOONA IS FULL, 70’S, CLEAR
Bass fishing is fair. The fish are moving into their deeper summer patterns. Concentrate on fishing man made brush piles on the main lake. The best baits for deep water brush pile fishing is the Spotsticker tipped with a 4 inch Yamamoto Cuttail worm. The areas that are producing best are main lake humps and points that are near deeper water. There is a shadow pattern bite on the bluff walls once the sun breaks out. The fish are relating to the temperature differences of the shade. Try a Flashminnow 95 on the shaded bluff walls. The fish are gorging themselves on 2 to 3 inch threadfin so match the hatch as best as possible. Use the Super Spin and add a fluke trailer can match up to the baits they are eating. A lot of fish are still coming on a drop shot rig. Take a shad colored 4 inch Yamamoto Cuttail worm and cut the head down to 3 inches and get it down to the 15 to 20 foot range and shake it with a 1/4 ounce weight on the tag end.

Line side fishing is off the charts. The fish have moved out of the rivers and back in the lake. The summer pattern is already setting up. Down lining thread fins and small Gizzards are the ticket. Mid lake around Kellogg’s Creek, Galts Ferry and Bartow Carver are fishing well. There is also a good bite in the Allatoona Creek arm. Tanyard Creek, Clark Creek, Iron Hill and from the 75 bridge to the spillway are all good places to look. Every hump and point should have some fish on them. The bite can get crazy at times. Carry plenty of bait with you. If netting isn't your thing, Striper Soup has plenty of bait on hand. After the live bait bite is over start pulling your umbrella rigs. Chartreuse has been the best color for buck tails on the umbrella rig. Pull them 120 feet behind the boat at 3.1 mph.
