This will be a February to remember without a doubt, the warming sun, warming water and early pre-spawn put us into some of the best fishing for a February in many years. All I can say is if it continues into the rest of the spring this will be a banner year on Guntersville.


The only negative was patience or maybe lack of them as you still had to locate fish they weren’t everywhere but finding a pattern for the day took a little time as the water current, time of day and bait choice all made a difference every day. Change was constant, not much stayed the same from day do day as the fish were on the move and affected by the elements.


My bait choices I stuck mostly with SPRO Aruka Shad rattle baits, Tight-Line swim jigs and Picasso Shock Wave chatter baits and a Missile Bait D-Bomb as these produced at some point during each trip this week. Depth changed everyday with the water level some days we were 2 to 5 ft. some we were 4 to 9 ft. so move and change locations and depth as well until you establish a bite.
