LAKE RUSSELL IS ONE FOOT OVER FULL, CLEAR, 50S
Bass fishing is fair. Most of the bass are coming out of shallow water later in the day and are being caught early on flukes and Senko’s. The crank baits are working on rocky points on the main lake and the sun beating on the rocks bring the bait fish up shallow. Rapala DT 6 crank baits in shad and green tiger are good colors. Make long casts with these baits to the points and crank them slow. Use a slow retrieve and stop the bait often along the channel ledges. Use a jigging spoon in the deeper water as the bass will fall back into the deeper water after a feed and hang there until feeding time arrives again. A light ½ ounce sinker with a Carolina rigged finesse worm will also work during these off peak feeding times. Use light weight and downsize your line for better results. Use Sufix 12 pound test line with a ¼ ounce weight. Work the bait slowly back to the boat stopping it on occasions.
