The lake is full. The lake is clear. The temperature is 68 to 72


Bass fishing is good. The shad spawn has started. Now is the time for spinner baits on sea walls and rip rap. Look for shad on the banks early in the morning at day light. This is some of the best fishing of the year and should last for two or three weeks. Watch the Lowrance Side scan technology and send the side beams out 5 times depth to scan the water for bait and game fish. As the sun rises and the shad spawn stops switch over to a small crank bait and fish the same areas. Later in the day don't forget soft plastics under docks from the middle of the coves to the back of the coves. Drop a small shiner into the school.


Striper fishing is good and getting better. Start at the dam with live shiners and shad. Flat lines have been the best bet over the past week. You can also find fish up the lake in deeper water. Use your Lowrance to locate the schools and then drop a live bait down and hang on.

Crappie fishing is good. The long line bite has taken off over the past few days. The fish are moving in and out of the shallow water to spawn. They can be from 1 foot to 10 feet deep. These fish will hit a live minnow or a jig. The lake is clear so use a natural color jig.
