LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 2.1 FEET, CLEAR AND 80 S

This Lake Allatoona Bass fishing report is by Matt Driver.

Bass fishing is fair. Fish the slower techniques like the drop shot and a small swim bait targeting suspended fish of long points continues to be best. Use small baits to baits likes the tiny fluke and big bite 3.75 jerk minnow fished on 5lb Sunline fluorocarbon with a Gamakatsu drop shot hook. US the Lowrance Sonar and sit over the fish with the 200 kHz frequency and you can spot the fish dead on the bottom. Drop baits like the small Keitech swim bait on a Picasso round ball swimbait head. Try also making long casts and counting it down to the depth the fish are holding and since there is little structure on the lake bottom just fish slowly. Sometimes he fish will hit at the bait several times before getting it. Be patient the south end of the lake is fishing the best.

Line side fishing is good. It has been a mix bag of Stripers, Hybrids, Whites, Spots and catfish. Down lining shad is still the ticket to catching big numbers. Down lines fished in the mouth of any creek, creek channel or river channel will get you bit. The water temperature is rising and the dissolved oxygen levels is still holding on, but should start to fall in the upcoming weeks. Bait isn't living very long on a hook fished deeper than 24 feet. So, make sure you carry plenty of bait with you. There are two bites going on right now. The first one is from the dam to Holiday Marina. The other one is from the mouth of Kellogg's to Bartow Carver. The morning bite is very good as well as the afternoon bite. So there is opinions for those of you that don't like to get up early. Trolling is g with the umbrella bite finally taking off. We are starting to see multiple hook-ups on our trips. We are fishing the rigs 120 to 150 feet behind the boat at speeds of 2.4 to 3.3 MPH. The rig bite should be on fire by the end of next week.
