Best line for wormin' / Jigs
I have always used mono on everything that I fish but am heading the BPS Saturday and going to see how much I can spend. Would do you recommend puttin on your worm/Jig rod and reels. I have always put 12lb on everything and never had problems but wondering if Floro is really theat much better for reel.
Thanks
Brad
Re: Best line for wormin' / Jigs
I know I'm in the Minority on this but I say 17-20# Mono. I like Excel clear and catch my fair share of fish. I just do my best to stick with what's works. The Fluoro I have tried in the past has cost me fish and that really hurts in a tourny. JMO

I think Flouro can be very useful, especially for jigs and worms. You really get alot more feeling of the bottom as well as the action of the lure. I like 12-15 lb. for jigs and worms. I have lost very few fish with the flouro (no more than mono) - but you really have to pay attention to your knots and I re-tie often. I use Flouro almost exclusively, and it definitely takes some time to get used to. If you decide to try it, get a good brand (seaguar, trilene 100% would be my top two.) If you really want to see how much you can spend - try a texas rig set-up with Flouro and match it up with a tungsten weight. You will be able to feel everything it comes in contact with. This is my favorite set-up, and my go-to set-up for most of the year.
Re: Best line for wormin' / Jigs
10-12lb Bass Pro Shops XPS Flourocarbon with Tungsten weights is all I use on all my soft plastics, which includes C Rigs and T Rigs. I use 10lb on all my jigs from 1/4oz to 1 oz and never had a problem. The only line I use other than Flourocarbon is Mono on topwater, Braid for flippin, Braid main line for my FNF but Flourocarbon leader. I even use Flourocarbon night fishing for I will sacrifice the Flourescent of Mono for the feel of Flourocarbon. Just my 2 cents worth, but I do know without a shadow of a doubt that when I switched to Flourocarbon and Tungsten, I can feel the bottom, the differences in the bottom from mud to hard bottom to stumps or rock and certainly catch more fish with Flourocarbon versus Mono. I can also feel the grass so much better at Dale and with Ky Lake getting more and more clearer and more and more grass growing, it will help as well. Loved the feel of Flourocarbon and Tungsten in the Flower Bite on North Barkley last spring as well. I could feel when it was barely hanging up to when the flower let loose and I dropped it back down. Flourocarbon and Tungsten are more expensive than Mono and Lead but we spend all this money on the gas for the tow vehicles, gas in the boat, hotels, lures, launch fees.......to catch fish. Why not spend a little extra on your line, hooks and sinkers for I have said it a million times, Depth and Presentation are so much more important than lure color. The Flourocarbon and Tungsten will help you be a better Catcherman, for I know it did me. Good Luck

Floro don't waste your money on the cheap stuff either unless you want to be heart broken. Seaguar and P-Line are good.
Re: Best line for wormin' / Jigs
richard knows the good stuff...ive always used seaguar but picked up some pline a while back and its great to...12-15lb spooled on my revos all the time

Re: Best line for wormin' / Jigs
I really like the Seagaur InvisX in 15lb test for fishing worms and jigs. I always have my finger on my line just above the reel and can tell a big difference in how sensitive flouro is over mono.. Just my opinion...Good Luck
Re: Best line for wormin' / Jigs
I really like the Vanish Transition Gold in 12 lb. test....Great sensitivity and the gold reallyhelps see any twitch in the line...I did try the new red Transition but it did not turn as visible as the gold...
