Get a shimano.
I have one liked the reel hated the rod. I was looking at them tonight at bass pro, hate the thought of spending good money and only getting one season out of a reel.
Re: Spinning reel problems
I bought a new Quantum array last year from all places Plapps.
Fished it all last season. Cleaned it lubed it. I was restringing it today, and noticed the reel clicks, or ticks when reeling in, I tore it apart and worked on it for 2 hours, and still it ticks, or a thumping sound. I think the gear off of the handle might be slightley bent do not know, and cannot take it back to plapps
Call Quantum and tell them. Heck they might fix it? Then get a Shimano.:)
Re: Spinning reel problems
I agree call them, seems they should make it right????
Re: Spinning reel problems
I tried them several years ago due to recomendations from a friend who got a good discount. Waste of money. Shimano or Okuma.
Re: Spinning reel problems
If its quantum, throw it away, they are mostly junk.Get a diawa or shamano. I have a wide spool diaawa that is almost 15 yrs old, and all of it works just fine, even the quick fire. But I'll be damned if I shell out 250.00 bucks for any spinning reel. A 60 buck one works just fine for me.
