just got shafted by AT & T
i bought a new motorola tundra on july 1st adn had insurance put on the plan cuase i upgraded and done all the usuall stuff they want you to.... well yesterday the phone met its maker from a high fall... it broke the screen.... i go to cingular or att whatever it is now to get another one and file my claim pay the 50 bucks and go on with life NOPE.... well last year on august 29 2008 was the last time i filed a claim but i had 2 claims that year and they cancelled me then on that day... well the manager at att didnt tell me this when i bought my plan on july 1 2009 and when he put insurnace on it went thru and according to att my plan was cancelled on july 3 cause of 2 claims the year prior..... so i just paid 200 for a phone i used less than 2 months that i was under the impression that i had insurance on and i have had my own cell plan with them for 6 years..... and never paid late and had always had good help from them but now they hang me out to dry.... what makes me so mad is that they cancelled my insuance and didnt notify me of the changes to my plan..... grrr but yall might want to check into it cause to replace teh exact phone is 499.99 dollars but they will sell me one for 200 plus a 75 fee for something else for being such a good customer.... but i can put insurance on my phone in a few days but they wont let me call adn get a new phone because i called them today wanting a replacement phone.... what do u do???

check your bill.........if the bill shows yo paying insurance, you HAVE insurance.
Or check the bill when you reupped.......if it is there, but NOT there now, you may still have a case........

Also, your homeowners/renters might pay for it.............if you have comprehensive, or "damage" rider on electronics.

Buy a personal articles policy from State Farm or your insurer if they have one. NO DEDUCTIBLE full replacement if broke dropped etc just no coverage if the phone quits working from an internal problem costs 32 bucks a year. you can get these for tackle electronics, jewelry cheap coverage that works.

Good stuff, didn't know they offered such a critter. My phone is a company phone and has a insurance policy, but other things came to mind??

but wouldnt this go against you as having a claim if u filed one and cause our insurance to rise such as renters homeowners or vehicle..... or is it separate.... how does this work.... i am interested...... i know u can insure anything but i just wanna know how the claims process works....

Hey Ryan,
They canceled me too, only my two claims were two years apart. I take it the insurance is good, and very good to have, unless you use it!!! LOL
I now stay away from the Cingular store. I buy my phones at Wally world. Yes, they are not always the newest, or shineyest, but they are sound, and I'm using a Razor that I got for $25, and then my wife's and father-in-law's were free two weeks later. I stay with Cingular/AT&T because of the coverage area, and the roll over plan for our family. I just refuse to fund their stores. Here their employees are the absolutely bottom of the barrel when it comes to customer service. AND no, this is not a cheap shot... I told them to their faces, and communicated the same to Cingular. Unfortunately no one really cared.
