46 hours and counting to KY Lake...
I do L-O-V-E my 30 degree spitting rain/sleet/snow never see the sun Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursdays at Dale Hollow Lake from the first of December thru the first half of January with my FNF rod in hand chasing "them ol brownfish".....BUT.....a VERY CLOSE SECOND is my Ky Lake trips from the end of March to the first of May and.......
My first days on the water after my latest surgery this past Feb will begin in about 46 hours from NOW. I figure we will be launching around 5pm Saturday to fish until who knows when Saturday night and then planning on some 16 hour days of fish catching action SUN - MON - TUE - and WED. The forecast looks OUTSTANDING and if Ky Lake is like I know it is, then 100 fish days a plenty coming forth SOON. Big Girls are moving up, Full Moon in a couple of weeks so hoping the majority of the Bigguns are still in a feeding mood and not a love making mood (I am not very good when they are locked on the beds). Crankbaits, Spinnerbaits, Last Cast jigs, Hook Some Bass Baby Brush Hounds will pretty much do the trick. Truth be told about it, just hoping to catch 1 and not make any trips to any Healthcare Facilities in the Paducah and/or surrounding areas. Will be enjoying the company and fellowship with 3sons on Sun and Mon and DCBasser and his Brother on Tue and Wed. At least I am not going at it alone and there is somebody with me to drag me to the operating table if needed (my wife will not be happy if this happens). Come back Wed night and head to Dale Hollow Saturday night the 24th for 3 days of Smallie/Greenie/Ky action. Should be 2 pretty good trips and I am looking forward to both of them. Amazing at what a little boat time can help ease your mind from medical issues and other life issues. I wonder a LOT of times what would I do and where would I be if I still had all the health problems that I have had over the past 4+ years but did not have FISHING as a much needed ESCAPE.
Re: 46 hours and counting to KY Lake...
Enjoy your trip, I'm sure you'll catch a boat load. I'm going to try and get back on Barkley myself before the end of the month, just need to get some things complete here at the house first.
Re: 46 hours and counting to KY Lake...
Hope you have a wonderful time. I'm sure you guys will wear them out. I'm predicting you catch a 7-3/4 largemouth on your trip. Don't let me down.
Re: 46 hours and counting to KY Lake...

Sorry Bone, but will go to my grave and never get a prank over on ANYONE better than the LOG SALMON that I got over on YOU!!!!
I am sitting her laughing my butt off thinking about the Log Salmon and can absolutely remember every single second of the whole ordeal. I can see 3sons just about falling out of the boat for laughing so hard and me just about falling off my seat with my sides hurting like I was just kicked by a mule. Absolutely the funniest thing that has ever happened in my boat and that is saying something considering all the laughter that happens in my boat. Now get back to work and go Respiratory Therapy somebody - but watch out for the LOG SALMON for I hear they are about to make their annual spawning run back up the river.
The trip will start out GREAT for I am taking a nice 8 1/2 x11 Glossy of Mr. David Hayes holding the World Record Smallmouth down with me that we took a couple of weeks back when I spent a couple of hours with him and stopping by his house Saturday and he is going to autograph it for me. The trip will be made just because of that and no fish catching will be needed.
Re: 46 hours and counting to KY Lake...
Don't laugh too hard. Don't sneeze too forcefully. Don't lift more than 2 lbs. That should keep you safe. I just worry a bout the "laughing too hard." That will be a hard one for you, Birdwood.

Sebile 6 1/2" Magic Swimmer been tied on since last night and if that does not work have Strike King King Shad's, Hollow Body Swim Baits and a few Sexy Swimmers ready willing and able to be tied on at a minutes notice. 20lb Flourocarbon, 7'MH rod and Quantum Reel to complete the Swimbait Arsenal. Only caught 5 fish EVER on swimbaits but would love to tie into a few MONSTER females this weekend.
