The X-tra strong does have a lot of memory. I know you can buy Seaguar and Berkley in bulk floro spools but I'm not for sure about P-Line I'm sure you can. Don't even want to think about how much it costs.
What got me the most was the way the fluoro lines didn't recover after they were stretched. Once you get hung and have to break off, or stress the line with a good fish on you've got some damaged line out there. That study really hits home with me. I've broken off a couple of money fish this year on my spinning rig spooled with fluoro, and I'm seriously considering going back to mono for finessing.
Try using braid or Fireline crystal. I have the crystal in 8lb on my shakey head rod. I use about an 8 foot floro leader and it seems to work well. I have not lost any fish and if your leader gets weak just change it. Plus you don't have to deal with the line twist and it is very sensitive. Give it a try when you get a chance I think you will like it.
Is Berkley Vanish really that bad? I just re-spooled my FnF reel with it over the weekend. I think that's what I put on it last year.
Hey Gurl,
I've used both the floros and have had good luck with them. Yea I've broke off a fish or two on the hook set, but I've also done that with P-Line Halo.
It does pay to retie often.
I may try the XPS this coming year since it seems a little more affordable.

not a fan of vanish at all. lost a nice smallie at the boat on dale last month. i moistened and cinched slowly and still broke
does anyone use any red mono? i have been using it this fall. suspossed to be invisable as it doesn't reflect sunlite.

Well, I guess I'm gun shy now and I'm going to have to strip off that vanish I just put on and re-spool with P-Line or Fireline and a P-Line leader.
