Re: Wiinter Fishing Glove
If it's not real cold I just use those $2 Laker gloves they sell at walmart. I use spinning equipment, so I cut off the right index finger tip. The few times I've been when it was really cold, I did the latex gloves under brown cloth gloves with the fingertips cut off, with a thin layer of petroleum jelly under the latex gloves. Works great. Even if your hands get wet (inevitable if you're using live bait) they won't stay cold.
Re: Wiinter Fishing Glove
I have been using latex gloves and fingerless jersey's for probably 20-30 years but I do take it one step farther when real cold. I use vaseline intensive care just a little and work it in good then get my hands wet shake them off good and put on the latex. Theory is like a wetsuit works ,,,,this works for me but my old women says I ignore everything once I catch that first fish GO FIGURE what to heck doe's she know after 37 years....
Re: Wiinter Fishing Glove
Thanks Guys for all the GOOD INPUT. I'm definitely going to stock up on several of those Jersey gloves and also some latex gloves to use with them. I’ll also give that Vaseline a try if it’s really cold. Also, just might have to place an order with Cabela’s for either the WindShear Glomitts of the Glacier Kenai Fingerless Gloves. I like the idea of having something with small bumps, etc. to minimize the chances of throwing my rod in the lake...He-He....
Thanks again,
Gary
Re: Wiinter Fishing Glove
The latex and Vaseline may not keep you as warm as you like but look at the bright side. If your fishing partner needs an emergency prostate check you will have all the right tools on the boat for such and occasion ;)
Otherwise motocross gloves work well also because they fit tight and are thin material. Not supper warm but you can’t have both. Once your fingers go num you won’t need to worry about the gloves anyways.
Re: Wiinter Fishing Glove
The thicker latex gloves work great will keep hands warm and also you don't lose you feel detecting strikes, waterproof also. carry 2-3 pair they do tear, can get a box at wal-mart for 4-5 dallors 50 pr
Re: Wiinter Fishing Glove
I bought some nice fingerless gloves at Walmart; kind of like weight-lifting gloves but a bit longer on the fingers. I like them.
