Re: Elwood's surgery delayed
Elwood, where was Jeff the manager from UK that was going to help with your admitting procedure that morning?
Jeff did all that he could. He had my paperwork all completed and my admission was 99% complete when I got there plus he had me a private room lined up after my surgery. Jeff even came in to meet me in the Pre-op waiting room just to say hi. He had been in the labor and delivery room with his wife all night for she had went into labor Thursday afternoon, congrats Jeff on your baby girl. None of these problems could have been fixed by Jeff and pretty much like any other time, I am at the mercy of the surgeon(s). Hoping to go in Thursday and have no problems but knowing my luck I am expecting the worse. Looking forward to meeting you again Bone. You still work at UK don't you?
Re: Elwood's surgery delayed
I work in the Department of Respiratory Care. I am glad Jeff was there and did what he could. I hope this delay will be uneventfull, and I will be around after your surgery to say hello. Our department has some great professionals and will see that your pulmonary needs are met.
Re: Elwood's surgery delayed
Elwood,
Everything will be ok. It's like having a bad pre-fishing day before a tournament, you think it's going to be tough and the next day you wack'em.
Good choice on the reschedule, and have faith we are all keep you in our prayers. Those smallies will be ready for you, when you are ready for them.
Good luck.
Re: Elwood's surgery delayed
EtecRanger, Thanks for the kind words, I did everything possible to help Elwood, the one thing I can not help is the Operating Room or the Surgeon. Tell Shauna Norris her old boyfriend said hello... LOL

Re: Elwood's surgery delayed
Smart move to postpone until a later date. Especially when your surgeon tells you he's not feeling good
I hope your luck gets better. Think positive and hope for the best on the upcoming surgery.
My surgery that was scheduled for today was cancelled and moved to thursday the 21st. I am not the least bit happy about this and they certainly could have handled this situation much better. We get there a bit after 10 and check in this morning and was sent up to the surgery waiting room. My surgery was scheduled to begin at 12:25 and around Noon, I asked the guy at the desk if I would be going back anytime soon. He says they are 2 hours behind schedule and it would be a while. At 2pm, I ask him again and he said the case in front of me went in at 1:15 and should be done at 2:30 so it should only be a few minutes before they take me back and prep. 2:45 rolls around and my surgeon comes out and calls me and my wife to the consultation room and tells me that my surgery is being cancelled because they are so far behind. He said that it would take 6 hours to get done (which is what I questioned to the lady that called me yesterday when she said 4 hours) and the way it was looking it would be around 6pm before we could even get into the surgery room. I questioned with the info that I knew and he said the hospital was over booked and they had no rooms to get the patients out of the recovery part of surgery, hence there was people in the surgery rooms were not getting into recovery, hence the surgery rooms were getting even more backed up. Needless to say, I am not a happy camper. Plus my surgeon says he is not feeling well but he would "find" someone to help him to do it later if I wanted to have it done. Less see here, sit there the rest of the night to have my surgeon (not at 100%) and somebody that he "finds" perform the worst operation on me to date. No brainer, re-schedule and it will be Thursday the 21st. Par for the course for me and really I should not expect anything less. I believe it is much better on me to expect the worse and if I get better than the worse then it is better on me. Absolutely no LUCK when it comes to my health problems or the medical profession comes my way. Thanks again for all the support and maybe we will try this deal again next week.
