Re: Fishing is hot RIGHT NOW!!!
I agree with embrey on this one. Ponds dont do much for me anymore. Anyone can catch bass and big bass out of ponds. So much more rewarding to me to find and catch bass on big public water.
Exactly...I caught a 4-5 lber the other night out of pond and didn't even freak out like I do when I'm fishin' public lakes.
ponds are just too easy...lol
Its pretty much a matter of opinion because I have talked to a lot of people at some fishing events and sales even some big names and the majority seems to think that ponds are harder due to the fact of space limitation so climate change and other environmental impacts affect the water and fish more so than on a lake or bigger body of water and if you are on a lake 9 times out of 10 if you are not catching anything I just move somewhere else and I can catch them. With a pond due to space limits if you do not catch them in one spot thats how it usually is throughout the whole pond and you have to really know the fish to catch them.
Re: Fishing is hot RIGHT NOW!!!
It's true that the temp rises and falls faster in pond but other things like atmospheric pressure are the same regardless. Fishes in pond are nowhere near as pressured as public water and are way more easier to put a lure in front of their face. In public waters, especially Indiana, when conditions are tough you have to find them first. You found them, put a lure in their face and they still give you the finger, let alone bite it.

Exactly. Fish in small ponds this time of year most likely only have 4 feet of water to live in with the thermocline, which makes it so much easier to put multiple presentations in front of lots of fish, which obviously leads to increase catches. However, I don't know why anyone finds it less rewarding. I love going pond hopping from time to time and have just as much fun as fishing Patoka. But that's just my opinion.
Re: Fishing is hot RIGHT NOW!!!
Yes its true that fish live in the thermocline but that is false that atmospheric pressure is the same everywhere. In a lake things change dependent on the size the area of water so if fish are not biting in one place just drive your boat 10 minutes and you can catch them, but with ponds due to the lack of size if they are not biting it means that you are not going to catch them anywhere and you have to work harder to actually find out what if anythin they will bite. Fishing pressure does play a factor but really in my experience to the size of the fish not that much into if you can catch fish at all.

Re: Fishing is hot RIGHT NOW!!!
After reading this post I decided to leave the bass boat at home and spend a couple hours at the pond in our subdivision. Come to find out someone stole the plug out of my john boat that I leave at the pond. I will never understand why some people have to go out of the way to ruin some elses day. Plugs are cheep but it's the point of it. They probably would have taken the whole boat if it wasen't chained to a tree.

That's why they took the plug instead. If they can't have fun, nor will you. ;)

Yeah I had something like this happened where I was on a fishing trip and I had my trolling motor and battery box chained to the boat and someone tried to stealy both but they could not so all they did was destroy my batter box, people are crazy.

I agree completely. But then again I don't catch much anyway. I'm usually there for comic relief.
