Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
I tell ya I saw a boat do this from the other side of the main lake on Nolin two winters ago and laughed my tail off to what the original boat did. Here i am fishing the point of a cove and i hear a boat come down off plane on the other side of the lake right in front of another fisherman. Myself amd this other boat had been there minding our own for about a half hour. After some shouting back and forth claiming stake to the spot the original boat fires up and I think to myself sissy. Until he circles around and trims all the way up about 10 yards away and floors it just absolutely soaking the guy. I think the other guy heard me laughing from the other side of the lake. I bet he won't get too close again.
Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
I had some idiot come in on me like that at ky lake this past June. There was series of ledges side by side but mine had a monster school on it and his didn't. So he nudged in and I let series 6xds fly his way to back him off. He finally figured out that I was not budging he picked his trolling motor up and idled on top of the ledge right in front me to get my exact line up then left. Had to be the most rediculous thing I've seen.
Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
Several yrs ago I fished Renegade for 3 yrs. Two out of those 3 yrs a man and his wife pulled on the same bank less than 5oyds in front of us behind the dock at Green . Both yrs she caught a fish on a c-rig. He should have known better he wearing a Barren County Bass Club jacket. But if you have no class, you have no class. Or as Ron White says "you can't fix stupid". I might add not even with duct tape. We beat him both yrs and we cashed more checks than he did (cause he cashed none)and we finished higher in the standing both yrs. What goes around comes around.

Has happened to me and the last thing I do is stoop to their level. I think the majority of them do it just to see how you'll respond.
Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
On the flip side, earlier this year I was fishing a tournament on KY Lake. I pulled into a spot on some rock about 400 yards from where the creek dumped into the bay out of the bushes. It was during one of the floods. Another tournament boat was throwing a rig into the creek in between the points of bushes. I had found a school of fish on the rock way, way out. He was 400 yards from me when we started smokin 'em. He proceeded to troll right over to us, through the middle of the little ditch right to where we were casting and started throwing at my boat. I was astonished. I asked him if he was going to fish here or by the creek as I'd go to one or the other and let him have what he wanted. He said he was fishing the whole area and acted like I cut him off. He turned around like he was mad and went back toward the creek. He'd busted up the school with his boat. So we just sat there a few minutes and started whackin them again. Of course, here he came. So you ask is 10 yards too close? Yes it is. I ask, isn't 400 yards far enough. To this guy, he wanted the entire bay to himself. Karma has a way of dealing with those people.
Needless to say, I left that jerk once they quit biting again as I hate confrontation on the lake. I deal with too much crap all week to have to deal with it on the weekends too. I'd rather just fish.
Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
Ask them if they see your buddy over there. Tell them he fell out of the boat about 20 miuntes ago and has not come up yet. Ask them to keep their eyes peeled because you are really concerned he may have drowned and sunk.
But you have to keep a straight face, and fidget alot while you are doing it. And do mention you called KDFWR, and they said they's be here as soon as they ramp in.
After that, evert couple miuntes, say loudly....."Bill.....where are you?"

I see your point in taking the high road but if that doesn't work, I actually take a lot of satisfaction in stooping to their level or going even lower. Whatever it takes to get the point across......this is the only way some people learn.

Tell him you just got out of prison for murder and have no problem going back.
Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
Don't get all mad about it.

I'm more in agreement with Brandon's approach; the world needs more patience than it does anger, and if you happen to get on friendly speaking terms with someone, it's much more likely you'll be able to change their behavior for the better than if you blow up at them. But anyway... I also like this[QUOTE=HURRICANEBOB;464100]Ask them if they see your buddy over there. Tell them he fell out of the boat about 20 miuntes ago and has not come up yet. My idea was to keep a CD player on your boat, and when someone gets too close, put on "Achy Breaky Heart" on repeat, at about volume 6. If that doesn't work, switch to some hip hop or AC/DC or the soundtrack to some Dora the Explorer cartoons (which we keep in the car for my daughters.)

"Oh, is this music bothering you? Well, if you're close enough to be annoyed by my German industrial music, then you're probably just too close to begin with."
