Re: Debate??
A lot of what you say is true Bobby, but you can't overlook the idealogical differences in the candidates, or the two parties for that matter. They are huge. Takes a mighty long arm to reach across an aisle that wide.
BO wants socialism with the government playing the role as primary care giver for us all, McCain wants to cut the government and let us take care of ourselves. The voters have to decide which one they want. Despite all the platitudes about hands across the aisle, that's what it comes down to. As McCain said, Obama's so far to the left of the aisle it's impossible to reach him.
The inescapable fact is Palin is more qualified to be President than Obama. Forget fishing, hunting, children, her looks, or anything else, she has been, and currently is a leader. She is a state governor, Obama's been a senator 4 months. After that he's been a presidential candidate, and media darling. That's it. End of argument.
Yes it's contentious and emotions are high, the role of the government in our lives is a big deal.
One more thing I would like to add I am from Illinois and you can not believe how corrupt Chicago Democrats are and if you look at BO back ground with Acorn, His church for twenty years, Bill Ayers wo is a terrorist, Turbin Durbin and Mayor Daley trust me this guy is your sweet talking blue swede snake oil salesmen and I am just scratching the surface.

Re: Debate??
I love it how no one can debate this issue without bringing race into the equation - or dumb comments like "host a BET reality show"
Look up all of the things McCain said (I think it only happened 3 times during the debate) that Obama interrupted with "that is not true." Obama was dead on. McCain loves throwing out half-quotes.
"McCain has a history of losing his temper"
Yeah, thats what we all need in office - an old man with a temper problem!
I think the Barry campaign has slung more mud than anyone. Look at how they attacked Sarah Palin. Look at how Obiden attacked Barry during the primary's and now nothing is mentioned. The Dems have a huge machine with the media on their side slamming McCain and his camp. HAHA Obiden sounds good huh?

Re: Debate??
No since in trying to pursuade any of the Democratic followers who will vote for Obama. They have their blinders on for sure and can't see past his elequent style of the Gift of Gab. He's drawn in the people who think that his style of Change will be better than what they have now. Let the Government tell all the American Population how, when, where and what to do with their lives from the Election Date on if Obama wins..... They want someone to tell them how to live their lives and respond when the Government asks them to do something.
But I on the other hand and all the peeps who will be voting in our "NEXT" President John McCain have our blinders off and can see the writing on the wall. The inexperienced Senator from Illinois is nothing but full of Hot air. He talks the talk, but he will never be able to walk the walk like Mr. McCain is doing and will do after he's elected as the President of the United States.....
I'd bet my entire life savings on Mr. McCain winning the election come November.....That is if no crazy Democrat stooped so low as to kill him, just to win my money...but you just never know about money hungry peeps out there in this world....
Heck, one young man hired two low life's to kill his own mother so he could buy his girlfriend a boob job.....Know what I mean?.......
But I'm done talking on here about Obama and his chances to win the election...ain't never going to happen....Talk to you all after the election and John McCain becomes our President.....
MS I would almost take that bet but I would hate to leave you out in the dark.

Re: Debate??
Body count. In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago, 221 killed in Iraq.
Sens. Barack Obama & **** Durbin, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., Gov. Rod Blogojevich, House leader Mike Madigan, Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike), Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley).....our leadership in Illinois..... All Democrats.
Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. Of course they're all blaming each other.
Can't blame Republicans, they're aren't any!
State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country. Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country . (Look'em up if you want). Chicago school system one of the worst in country. This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. He's Gonna 'fix' Washington politics ?

Actually the Chicago school district, is one of the most successful urban school districts in the country. Sure they have a few bad schools - as every district in the nation, but for the most part they are becoming a model district for innovative programming. We just sent a group of teachers and administrators to tour some schools in inner city chicago, and the things they are doing is amazing. They are proving the fact that socio-economic and student demographic breakdowns, have little impact on student achievement. I hear all the time "it is not us, it is the students" Not true. It is matching instruction and programming to fit the needs of the students you serve that creates a successful school. The Chicago school district is doing an outstanding job of demonstrating this to the rest of the country.

Re: Debate??
Col I just went to great schools and looked at Chicago school district 299 it has a rating of 3 on a 10 scale. They have around 450 schools in the district and about 413,000 students I scanned about 200 3rd grades and amazing there were some 9 and 10 but mostly 1 and 2. Ironically most of the 9 and 10 had a lot larger class size. This does not make since or maybe I am reading it wrong.

Re: Debate??
I just know that the urban district there started some pilot school promamming a few years ago and it has been extremely successful. These were mostly your "inner city" urban schools, the largest schools, as well as the schools with the highest populations of "at risk" students. These schools have been so successful at doing a 180 in terms of testing and achievement, that they have become some of the nations model schools. Enough recognition has gone to them, that schools in rural Ky as well as the rest of the country are taking notice, and trying follow thier actions. It may be that many of the unsuccessful schools you have observed were some of the smaller schools, that were not a part of the pilot program, however, I would bet that there scores increase as dramatically as the others over the next several years.
