I'm more in agreement with Brandon's approach; the world needs more patience than it does anger, and if you happen to get on friendly speaking terms with someone, it's much more likely you'll be able to change their behavior for the better than if you blow up at them. But anyway... I also like this
My idea was to keep a CD player on your boat, and when someone gets too close, put on "Achy Breaky Heart" on repeat, at about volume 6. If that doesn't work, switch to some hip hop or AC/DC or the soundtrack to some Dora the Explorer cartoons (which we keep in the car for my daughters.)
We have a cd player in our Nitro and that is an excellent idea every lake I go there is always someone who cuts us off or comes right on us so I am going to blast some Disturbed or SEETHER some of that real angry music ha ha we will see how they like that
Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
LOL - Moon, break out some Five Finger Death Punch - "War is the answer" that'll scare the heck out of 'em. The best quote I think I have ever heard came from our very own Dave Stewart when he said "If someones on a spot I was going too I don't get mad - I should be good enough to find more than just one spot that's holding fish". So Mr. Long John Silver - are you good enough? Move in on me 10yrds and I will act a fool, may be time for a swim - I love cannon balling off the Ranger it takes me back to when I was a kid and I did childish things...... like move in on somebody!!!
I see your point in taking the high road but if that doesn't work, I actually take a lot of satisfaction in stooping to their level or going even lower. Whatever it takes to get the point across......this is the only way some people learn.
I really couldn't agree with you any more. When I lived in Louisiana and we'd be tearing into some red's any one coming near my friends boat, he would pop a shot into the air to let them know their not welcome. It would work! You can get away with that way out in the marsh yet I don't think it would work on the lakes up here.
Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
You pop a shot off here like that and they call the law on you. And then, what if the other fella pulls out a gun? It could get real ugly fast and for what?

Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
Play Metallica "One" right next to him. That riff gets my adrenaline pumping....about like Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" opening sequence. Getting vibes just thinking about those songs right now. Gonna hit Youtube now :D
Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
ok so your on a point and someone blows in on you and we all know hands down without a doubt 100,000% wrong wrong wrong by god wrong !
but you can be in the middle of a 50,000 acre lake catching fish in the jumps and all of a sudden its ok, people come flying like their handing out free t-bones .......the jumps are community property ?
and not just talking about cumberland....this seems to be standard operating procedure everywhere.....jumps make people lose their mind and ability to see where the line is drawn in the water.
like ive said, i will help anyone anytime i can.....but if you come running in on me and swamp my boat and cause me to go overboard NOW YOU HAVE TO HELP ME BACK IN THE BOAT....AND IT AINT GONNA BE EASY !!!!
shut down a safe distance and have the courtesy to politely ask if its ok to join in on the festvities......c'mon who's gonna say no to a nice guy ?!?!

Easy....or safe??? After going into the drink by some a$$hole, it's probably best that I don't lay hands on him or get within reach of him.
Re: Is 10 yrds too close?
lol....nah just get me back in the boat first ......and then maybe.....just maybe i will help HIM back in the boat

You know i was just thinking this the other day. I've had this happen a few times while bass fishing but crappie and hybrid fisherman are by far the worse.
I can't count the times i'v been sitting on a brushpile crappie fishin and have someone come in on the same brushpile. I have to admit though that i have done the same on jumps

If you play AC/DC, I'd get even closer, and ask you to turn it up.:)
