What Happened To Joe Thomas

Hey guys I'm just wondering what happened to Joe Thomas? Is he not fishing the tour no more. I've noticed his show is not on the outdoor channel anymore. He seems to be one of the nicest guys there is but don't get me wrong, he wasn't exactly burning it up lasy year. Did he retire or did the outdoor channel cancel his sponsorship? I just want to know what happened, because inspite of his struggles it was a good show to watch.

I had asked this at the end of last year when he failed to requalify for the BASS Elite Series.

However, I have the answer for you. I was watching the FLW Outdoors coverage of the first FLW Series tournament on Okachobee today on FSN, and Joe is fishign the FLW Series. I don't remember what exactly he finished, but I do know he was in the top ten. It has been quite a while since he had made a top ten with BASS. FLW did not give him any air time though, and he only had a couple of bass on the final day, maybe that was why.

I think he can qualify for the FLW tour through the Series if he doesn't get some type of sponsor's excemption to fish this year.

The outdoor channel is still showing his UMF every day in fact, at 4:30 PM Central time, I believe.

I hope he continues his angler on tour show using the FLW series as his back drop.

I was glad to see him do well today!

Yea, I saw and see his shows usually every Saturday on regular cable.

I think he finished 7th on the Big O. Extremely nice guy. Got to spend some time with him at Guntersville and was very impressed with his personality from the first time we talked. Gave me his cell phone and told me to give him a call sometime as we had a mutual friend. Anyway, seemed very genuine.

Joe is fishing the FLW Series as well as the FLW Tour, He finished 7th at the series opener(Okeechobee) and finished 161 at the Tour opener(Lake Travis).

Talked for quite a bit with Joe at the Indy Show. He is doing fine. His family was with him at the show and his son Brian did his first seminar ever on the tank. Brian did a good job with the seminar for his first one, better than many of the folks I have seen in the past.

I talked to him about the Ultimate Match Fishing and he said he may do a "seniors" match fishing season. I pitched a season with "guides vs pro's"..hope it takes...lol.

Joe's Outdoor Channel Show never airs in the winter months unless its re-runs and the Outdoor Channel has space. Joe is fishing the FLW and doing all his TV SHows.

This year he has not only Ultimate Match Fishing, but also College Ultimate Match Fishing. And of course he has his Angler on Tour show. Joe is doing great.

Thanks for the update Matt and Dave. I was hoping to get out to the Louisville boat show again for the last weekend when Joe was there but was unable to. He truly is one of the good guys in the sport.

I haven't seen his show in a few years, but I don't get TOC anymore.

I did get a chance to meet Joe at the Elite Series tourney at Santee Cooper last year and he's one of the nicest guys you could meet. Best of luck to him in FLW.

I talked to him a couple of weeks ago. He was getting gas at the same station I was at in TN. We talked some about Smack Tackle. His crew was heading to Beinville station Florida(not sure about how to pronounce it let alone spell it) to film a show. I've been talking to him over the last few months and know for a fact that he has been very busy filming shows. As for tourney trail, don't know. I do know that he is a great guy.
