I'm old enough to remember the oil shortages of the 70s and 80's, and I remember how it was stopped. The truckers went on strike. Yup, locked them down nation wide. It lasted about 4 or 5 days and lo and behold, the oil comanies found oil! and it was cheap!! It was a miracle!!! Where are the interstate cowboys when you need them?

Well the gas prices have changed my life style. I was headed to the lake on Saturday but with $3.00 a gal I stayed home. I'm lucky that I drive a company car (until they take it away because of gas prices) but if I did not I would drive a little Toyota or Honda until the wheels fell off. My wife drives a Honda and it gets great gas mileage. I see lots of house wives driving Expeditions, Suburbans and other gas hogs and they can't back them up or make a turn. How about getting a car or minivan that you can drive and does not **** so much gas just to run to Kroger (I hope I did not hurt any feelings). As long as gas stays this way I will fish very little. I love it and think about it all the time. But, I am not going to go broke putting gas into my boat. I will look for some farm ponds close to the house and try them. Ryan.

Maybe they don't use CB radios as much as in the past with all the new cell phones nowdays.

I wish the truckers or ANYONE would start a protest that would force the OIL companies to lower the gas prices

I turned on the news last night on TV and saw were some storage tanks at some refinery out West had caught on fire. I hope they don't use that as an excuse to raise the gas prices again.

Last year it was the hurricane and Katrina that created the low supply and the high prices. Where is their excuses now?

Well, I hate to let you know, but the CEO, CFO, and 26 VP's just saw the new line of yachts just come out. They just got to have them!!!!!

Got an email from a friend yesterday and it sounded like a good idea. If WE want to control the price of gas WE need to unite and not buy less gas of which is almost impossible to do, but don't buy any gas from the biggest oil company's only (EXXON & MOBIL). This way they will drop their prices to try to get us back. WE would need to hold out until they get the prices to what we now would now consider reasonable ($1.35 - $1.50) a gallon. This will cause the other oil company's to follow suite. This email is circulating now and in about 8-10 days could reach as many as 300 million people if everyone continues to forward it on to 10 other people. This is the type of numbers that could make an impact on the profits of the big oil companies. I am willing to try this for a few weeks, what have WE got to loose. Don't wait for our politicians to do anything they just don't here us and just don't care. This goes for either of the political parties. I have really lost confidence in our elected officials.

What will work is reducing demand. Pretty simple.

If you need a bass boat that can go 60mph, then you need to have something to tow it.And you GOT to buy fuel. If you NEED to drive 100 miles round trip, or more, then you pay what ever they ask.We are part of the problem, not part of the answer.If you cut back, that leaves more for the other guy,and that isn't going to happen is it?If bigger is better, then pay for your choice,no asked us to over size our vechicles, we asked the companies to do it.When it reaches 5 bucks a gallon, I'll still fish at least 3 times a week, but those 120 mile trips to green to fish for muskys will be a thing of the past, and I wont fish 12 miles from the boat ramp, because there are guys who are traveling 12 miles to fish in places that I pass up, because I like the boat ride.We are not smart enough to beat this problem, we are causing it.

Well said LarryG. I don't think boycotting the big oil will work either. How many other companies do they own with a different name out front? Until we start to use less oil and the politics changes it is going to stay the same. It is going to slow my fishing way down. I hate it. I am going to start to fish the Ohio river a lot more. I can be at Cox's park in 10 minutes from my house and have a short run to Harrods Creek. Where there are always plenty of fish. I would much rather go to Barren, Rough or Nolin for the day but I can't afford it. I hope it ends soon but I don't think that it will. I don't think that we will ever see gas go under $2.00 a gal again.

Look what it has done to the Explorer line at Ford. It has cut a lot of those people out of a job. I would think that all the Auto makers are feeling the crunch. You would think think that the 2 would come to an agreement but it has not worked out that way.

Does anyone want to start to fish on the river with me LOL Ryan.
