I've never cleaned or even eaten a Drum, but I have been told they ain't to bad to eat...Yea, I know you caught them out of the Ohio but if they were small enough they were probably ok to eat. Thanks for the report Mark.

Went down and played on the bank for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon. Caught 2 little smallmouth about 11 or 12 inches a piece, a 3lb or so Drum and quick released a few more Drum. Fished a rattletrap and a jig, two rods and didn't even carry the bag so those two lures was it. I did foul hook something that took off slowly then started bulldogging and it was LARGE. Bait ripped free, no scales, probably a big cat, maybe a big spoonbill? I can tell you it felt like hooking a car. Water looks good and there were several fishing around the hydro's. I fished around the riprap there at Lewis and Clark ramp. Something was nailing that trap and I had several good hits on the jig slowly dragging it on the bottom. Not many hook-ups per the strikes, probably those dang Drum as they will do that and miss hooks alot with that ugly mouth and the way it's positioned. Hey Chuck I looked for you last night, you must have took a night off, LOL.

Hey Chub, and old guy really got me once by saying this. Fillet you up some carp or drum and soak them in salt water overnight. Then get you a 1/2 inch thick piece of cedar plank and soak it in cooking oil. Take your fillets and put pepper, salt, oregeno, and butter on them. Place the fillets on the plank and cook in the oven for about 35 to 40 minutes. When done throw the fillets away and eat that plank because that's about how good that fish is gonna be..., LOL.

What do you use for stripers on the river at the falls? Artificials, what size and weight? Would like to get into them if I knew what to throw.
