    Question Under Armour Heatgear

I was looking at the latest Bass Pro flyer and saw the ad for UNDER ARMOUR HeatGear. I was wondering if anyone has tried the T-shirts and if so, what you thought about them? Did you use the loose fit or compression fit? Which to you think is better?

I can understand using the COLDGEAR in the winter, but I am not sure if it is worth the price for the summer stuff. Comments?

My sons tried the stuff during baseball so far this year, it don't help cool you, it kind of pulls the sweat off your body to make you feel like your cooler, but your soaking butt wet...Now if you want to I guess use it like a sauna like shirt, will probably work great. G/L

I use the heat gear compression shorts. They WORK!! You know that thing they call swamp butt? When regular underware gets wet with sweat it stays wet and you feel wet and uncomfortable all day. But with the heat gear it wicks the sweat from your skin and it evaporates keeping you dry feeling. Since I started using it nearly two years ago I have never been uncomfortable when it was hot.

When you first start to sweat you will feel a little dampness but when the evaporation starts you forget about it and your not sitting there scooting around and tugging at your shorts all day. Oh I forgot they don't ride up your butt either and they keep the boys supported if you know what I mean. This makes a big differance when your on the lake all day and especially when your running in rough water.

I have also started wearing the compression shirts and again it seems that your sweating alot. But in reality your not sweating any more than you already would have been. But again when the evaporation starts you feel dryer. And the compression fit also keeps me from cramping up after stroking a jig all day.

Hey Grump I have not tried the hot weather stuff yet, but if it's half as good as the cold weather stuff I'm sold. I use underarmour when I deer hunt and the stuff works great.

When it's hot outside and your body gets overheated you sweat. The water evaporating from your skin is what cools you down. when water vaporized it requires heat to do so. This is what cools your body off in the hot summer time.

I would rather see someone using a umbrella to give them shade that wearing those OVER PRICED Armor Heat Gear clothing. Sorry but somethings are just "MARKETING" and nothing else. I am guess guessing here but I don't really think these things will keep you cooler than staying in the shade. Yes the will wick the sweat away from your skin but that may not cool you down. Simply removing the water away from your skin won't let the water evaporate directly off your skin. And the fabric will hold heat in maybe. I would rather wear a white loose fitting cotton fabric than something tight and restrictive on my body during the hot and humid summer months. Remember when the humidity is so high that your sweat can't evaporate off you and into the air you are going to be smothered and get very hot. Relative Humidity is the amount of moisture the air can hold at various temperatures. The hotter is it the more moisture the air can hold. Cold air is not very humid air but hot summer time air can hold a lot of moisture. If the air is already full of moisture there is no where for the sweat to go. Then you just stew in your own sweat. You need moisture free air blowing over your skin to cool you down and to evaporate the sweat away.

Although the Cold Gear seems like it will work as advertised. When it's cold outside you don't want sweat evaporating off your skin cooling your body down. You want the sweat to be wicked away from your skin not though evaporation but by osmosis. That's what the fibers in the Cold Gear do. They wick the water away from the skin. But so does polypropylene/wool combination long underwear. And the long johns at Walmart will do the same thing for much less money.

I used to play Ice Hockey and wore the polypropylene long johns under my Ice Hockey Gear and it worked great. But then again when you play ice hockey you don't have to worry about getting cold as you are moving around too much and exerting lots of energy and you don't' get cold on the ice. Not unless you are just out there sitting and or standing still. And if you do that you will get checked really fast and thrown on your butt. LOL Eh? Keep your head up and your stick on the ice. Skate Skate Skate! and headman that puck!

But Wormy I usually get my big buck quick then fish the rest of the winter. One of my best days of fishing in awhile was right in the end of January this year. I killed a 153 inch buck last year the opening weekend of muzzeload season. then the pressure was off, LOL.

I love the compression shirts during football. They get the sweat away from your body so you're not feeling sticky or wet. The shorts are amazing too. Like the toad said, You don't get 'swamp butt' and they dont ride up.

the loose fitting tactical gear is great for people who fish in the summer under the sun and don't want to get there arms burnt. They keep you cooler than a normal shirt and they wisk away the sweat. I had a tourny on the Ohio River last june and wearing a long sleeve tactical gear shirt I was amazed how confortable I was, plus I did not get sunburned at all. Scared if i took my shirt off may be an albino whale sighting in the Ohio....
Of course I am a tournament fisherman so whatever I say is not true.....

    SuperSprint.....

Sounds like you need to get out on the water a little more during the day time and stop chasing the women, doing 12oz. curls and eating steak at Clays Steakhouse!

I am talking from over two year experience in hot humid conditions from here to Florida and Texas. The Heat Gear works!!! It wicks the sweat and allows it to evaporate more efficiently. And even though they fit skin tight they are not restrictive nor do they cut off circulation. If anything they help your circulation. When cotton gets wet it stays wet longer. Cotton underware will keep you wet all day long. The more you sweat the wetter you will stay. The cold gear also pulls moisture from your skin but the fabrics outer layer evaporates at a slower rate. Its keeps you from having that cold clammy feeling after a brisk walk in the woods.
The main point I was letting Grumpy know was that with Heat Gear you feel dryer all day long thus more comfortable. As far as a cooling effect, when its hot its hot. If you want to cool off and don't mind staying wet all day just jump in the lake. That should keep you cool also but you will be wet.
And before anyone thinks it.. I am not a rep or have any kind of endorsment deal. I pay for mine, full price at the Bass Pro Shop just like anyone else that has been willing to try them. Speaking of BPS. I think they now sell the Visa Endurance fabric which works the same and is cheaper. So if price is the deciding factor try it. I just have had the Heat Gear for a while and don't go to the lake without them. Try them, if you don't like them take them back.
