Fish the weeds with top water or weightless plastic baits. The bass and crappie relate to the edge of the weed line this time of the year. If they are not there then fish the deep edges of the intersection of a creek channel with the river channel. That and underwater humps with sharp edges will hold all kinds of fish.
As long as the fish have some shade and oxygen, both provided by the weeds, they can be in any depth of water.
Remember that when the sun is directly overhead it puts out the most energy and the underwater plants will use this sunlight to produce oxygen and take up CO2. This will make the water a little less acidic also. CO2 plus water will make carbonic acid which is a weak acid. It builds up at night in the shallow water and drops down in the day time, unless the water is buffered with a lot of calcium carbonate, limestone.
