Question What do you get out of fishing???

For me it's not just the excitement of catching fish but much more. I'm a worry wart, heck I don't discrimenate either I worry about everything. My job, family, home, you name it, I stress over it. Can't help it that's the way I'm made up I guess. I've always been an outdoorsmen and have hunted and fished since I was old enough to squirm. But for me nothing and I mean nothing takes my mind off my worries more than fishing. It by far is the best therapy for me to get out there and try my best to match wit's with them green and especially them brown fish. I guess it's the only time if only for a short while that I am completely stress free and have nothing on my mind but outsmarting that ole bass. What does it do for you and why??

I fish Tournaments for the competition and getting out with the fellow anglers but it's not always relaxing to me. It's more of an adrenaline rush at times and of course a low if something goes wrong but that's competition.
Fun fishing with friends and family is just that... fun and relaxing i have found that i can really relax and i don't really care if i catch more fish or the biggest fish as long as we all enjoyed the trip. Heck, sometimes the scenery, the company or the perfect weather makes it an awesome trip in itself. Those first warmer days of Spring make for some of my favorite trips with the sun out and the fish shallow....

Spending time with my Son on the water, teaching him the love of the outdoors, just like my Father did to me, and hoping he passes it on to his son/daughter. Also on someones monikor they have the perfect saying
"Some people go to church on Sundays looking for God, I go to the lake and find him."

The fellowship with everyone else, the harassing each other when fishing about being stuck on that big O-fer. Telling yer buddy that each fish you catch is always bigger than his is of course.

Plus the quiet time of just being out on the water and it lets you just forget about everything else that going on in the daily routine of life.

If you are out on the lake at daylight when the sun comes up or at sunset when it goes down you know the answer to this question !

I guess for me the main thing is stress relief. I work in IT (NOC monkey), which can be pretty stressful, and sometimes I just need to get outside, away from the blinking lights and ringing phones, to where there aren't 4 people all vying for my attention at the same time, all of whom are convinced that their problem is the most important thing I have on my plate at the moment. Besides, fish live in beautiful places!

You and I must have come from the same mold. I couldn't have said it any better. When I was growing up we couldn't wait for squirrel season then came dove season, rabbit and and quail and fishing in between. Its hard to put in words why I love to fish. Sometimes I think I love it too much. I fished all day yesterday at CC in that heat and I was wore out. But all the way home I was thinking when am I going again.
