He is a master of marketing I say again he sells his own DVDs and clothing lines while fishing as much as he does that just proves he's smarter than we think Nascar has Jeff Gordon fishing has Ike.
No fight here it's just a discussion....but i could care less if a college student or some guy walking down the street looks like that but i do think it's odd that a man who is such a nice guy in person that has the fishing world by the short hairs would want to act like he does on camera. I totally understand the marketing standpoint and if thats his strategy then go for it...but it's not for me. I would rather have my child think that KVD is awesome, maybe i'm just showing my age? I like Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson but that's my point these guys stand out by being awesome not by "posing", heck look at Jordon when he played this guy always seemed to present a good image and the kids/parents loved watching him.
I would have to disagree on the fishing having Mike Iaconelli I would say that fishing has KVD. Just calling it like I see it...

All I can say guys is dont believe all you see on TV. Skeet Reese was and is always the first to the ramp and has his rap music loud enough to wake up all the fish and anybody within a few miles of him on the lake. I stood there in amazement as he pulled up with his gangster rap going. Very professional let me tell you. I just think before you form opinions, meet the guys first. Ike erased any second thoughts I had about him.

Really did not want to comment but it just keeps growing. I have been on 2 week long fishing trips to Canada Mike went along on both. First he gets just as excited about catching fish when there is no camera running. I have fished with several pros and Mike is the most intense I have ever met.

I don't care who you are if you want to talk fishing he will talk until the cows come home.

As far as the "Model" he has the attention of the kids and if he can get them interested in fishing and the outdoors GREAT. I have seen him sit in the airport and sign autographs and talk to kids he stayed there until they had to go.

I don't think he cares who likes him. He is being himself.

Many peoples opinion would change if they talked to him.

we could probably find something about them all we don't like,we onlysee small bits of all their lives and hardly enough to really judge any,yes i know there are first impressions but i have seen guys that are nice as helll in public to beat and bash their spouses at home.just a thought, how many races has jimmy johnson's crew chief missed for possible cheating, you want your kid to think that it's ok?some liked swindle then his antics, now he's looked at as mark on fishing.lookat it this way when you think how bad ike is,next few times you go fishing see if you cuss and fuss sometime to the point it would'nt look good on tv.i don't have a hate or like for mike i don't know him but i hear people that never bass fish who watch because of the funny lookin shirt loud guy.Hank Parker and Paul Elias all the way.j.m.o

Yeah, true, but remember, it was a UL attacking Lexington first.

mhall, I did not mean to indicate you were a thug, so please, don't take offense to a school to school razzing.

I suppose maybe you are just reacting to Billy's attack on me, who knows.

Know this though mhall, you too will be in my prayers.

You know Jerry you make a good point, you hung out with him and others haven't, I'll give you that respect. If you talk to him again ask him to treat and handle the fish better. In tournys I've seen him in he tosses them around like bags of sand. This teaches newby's or wannabe's to do the same. Looks like he is extremely rough on the fish at times. I guess I will never, and really don't want to understand this Hip Hop generation crap. I think it promotes hate, drugs, and all that's bad for society and glorifies it. Everytime I hear that vulger sh!t it makes me want to kill a midgit I get so mad, just kiddin. But really can someone tell me one solotary good thing that's ever came form listening to that hate music. Grab a Ho and pop a cap in that Five O, I mean think about it. And the other poster is right, there is nobody in pro bass fishing that's a bigger Gangster than Skeet Reese and Gerald Swindle, it's not just Ike. All this being said I don't get the Gangsta stuff especially in fishing I guess that's why I never liked the guy, but tell him to quit breaking down fish and slinging them around, I'm done, soap box removed.

I met Ike last year at Santee Cooper and he's a great guy. He enjoys talking to everyone interested in talking to him. As far as his actions go, nothing compared with the "professionals" in other sports. He isn't hurting anyone, he's not doing drugs, and he's committing no crimes. Even though he may act ridiculous sometimes, its all about marketing. He gets his picture in a magazine or gets on tv, its more $$ for his sponsors.
