Will be fishing Barkley this weekend for the first time in 3 years. I will be putting in at the Rockcastle ramp and fishing from there to up into Little River.Outside of Dave's report, which is a great start(Thanks Dave Stuart), has anyone got any advice for me to pick up a few bass? Thanks in advance!!

Don't over look that bay. It holds great fish, and I've seen many 7lbers come out of there. The fish hold on an underwater ledge that runs from the island right out in front of Prizer's Point Marina and across the point. It is sometimes hard to follow the first couple of times, but drop a couple of marker bouys, and you have it. Also the shoreline on the way out of the bay, on the south side is how you want to come and go. It is very shallow in the middle of the bay mouth opening. The channel is well marked. I have caught many 4 lbers on that south side of the channel. Also, if you can hold your boat out in deeper water near the north side of the channel where it merges with the main channel, and fish a CR up onto the shallow flat, you can find a lot of fish there at times. The docks in the bay also hold fish.
Be very careful if you decide to get to the LBL side, but that is the area I feel holds the best fish down there. I can't begin to describe how to get there in words on the computer, but there are some fantastic bays over there in that area.
Good luck, and be safe.

The spinnerbait bite has been quite nice in the morning.![]()
Good enough for some keepers...fishing shallow too, like 1 - 2 ft deep around grass in the backs of bays, particularly where there's shad present. The shad are on the move and when you run a spinnerbait through one of those "balls" you usually hook up on one or more. I guess its the start of the fall transition, and probably only going to get better if these cooler nights are here to stay.
Thanks to those who offered up help, will be heading down Friday morning and hopefully on the lake by noon or a little after.
good luck!
SLOW--SLOW--SLOW, That's the only word that comes to mind on the past weekend trip to Barkley. Worked familier spots to no avail, and went looking for some new ones and everything is slow. What fish were picked up came from different areas, under different situations. What fish were caught were primarily on cranks. 14 weekend warriors, 10-12 fish weighed, largest just over 3 lb. Good Luck Guys,
This is NOT the news I wanted to hear, but thanks for the report!
Sounds about like my daytime fishing, however Saturday evening gave up one of the best topwater bites I've had this year! I had one fish jump clear out of the water like a dolphin trying to destroy my bait! It was AWESOME! And to top it all off, "Fishing in the Dark" started playing on the radio during the hottest action of the evening! I mean it couldn't get any better!!!SLOW--SLOW--SLOW, That's the only word that comes to mind on the past weekend trip to Barkley.
