Very informative report. It is just around the corner, maybe even wednesday and the fish will start to move!

Stayed at Jamestown, and left off from there each morning. Jamestown ramp has one lane only, but had no problem using the open lane with a 20 foot pontoon in and out.
Caught only one Striper trolling all week. That small guy hit a free lined shiner over the channel outside Jamestown, on the walls leading toward Lilly at 9 pm one night. We did see some limited sporadic jumps most mornings and a few in the evenings. After a shower one day, we saw main lakes jumps at 2 pm, but short lived and no repeat blow ups. Small groups that surfaced for 15-30 seconds, then usually never reappeared. Jump locations were:
a. Along the walls exiting Jamestown no wake zone, on the right side, down to Low "NO" Gap. Focus on the areas where the big cuts are in the walls. Small jumps happened 0800 to 1000 hrs, just off the channel, on the walls side of the channel. A couple jumps were 40 feet off the bank.
b. Point on left side exiting Jamestown no wake zone.
c. Flats at the Hog Pen area, far side of the lake from Jamestown, where the lake makes the big turn. Normally over 40-60 foot of water, small groups, and some isolated loners working surface.
d. Point at the island, at right side down from Jamestown, below Low Gap, and the walls of that island over the channel. some big jumps, but short lived and didn't repeat. Jumps there just as the sun cast a shadow from the banks in the evening around 500-600 pm.
Lilly Creek is holding tons of bait, but saw no jumps there any morning or evening. If you want shad to catch, go to back of Lilly, way back, and in the daylight they are flipping actively. Threadfin, some medium alewives, and some isolated gizzards found there. Saw schools of fish suspending deep each mroning and evening in first 2 turns of Lilly, but guess they were vacationing there, and dieting as well, cause they sure were closed mouthed to downpoled shiners.
Downpoling shiners from 20 to 80 foot, and boards with shiners run 20 to 60 foot netted no Stripers all week.
Small mouth were caught each day bottom fishing shiners from the banks just inside Wolfe, off the flats and beaches at the Hogpen across from Jamestown, at the point on the right side entering Governors Cove, and on the walls of the island just below Low Gap, on the way to Governors Cove.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, saw several guides bottom fishing the flats at the Hog pen.
Bluegill, Ky bass, small mouth, and goggle eyes were good on bobbers close the tha bank, 8 foot down, using nightcrawlers.
Several channels cats caught bottom fishing using shiners and small bluegills.
Small mouth and KY Bass hit white colored shallow running small crankbaits with some regularity, fished tight to gravel banks right at the mud lines or drop offs.
Fun and relaxing week, caught fish each day, either gills, bass, smallies, or cats, but stripers were limted to just one 6 inch guy who hit a nightcrawler under a bobber, and one 15 incher that hit a trolled free lined shiner.
Lake water is beautifully clear, with vision to 12-15 feet, no debris. Gas at Jamestown was $3.68 to $3.84 per gallon on the dock, in town at Russell Springs and Jamestown it was $2.64 to $2.83 per gallon.
Jamestown motel rooms have been updated, some now have TV's with DVD player, flat panel TVs, new floor tile, and or carpet, new ceiling fans and light fixtures. Rooms were very clean and well kept. Rates were $79 for a Super Suite with fireplace, full kitchen with dishes and pots and pans, one king bed, and sofa bed, (sleeps 4) or $59 for a deluxe with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed (sleeps 6), microwave, refrig, sink, and coffee maker. 71 steps down and up the cat walk bridge to the dock, big climb. I recommend a stay there, as the rates are low this time of year, staff was very helpful, and rooms were very well kept. Great view from second floor rooms, means you can watch for jumps when taking a break.
Ate exceptionally good meals at the Porch Resturante in Russell Springs, acrossed Highway 127 from McDonalds, and at the Anchor Inn, just south of Jamestown Square on the way to Jamestown Resort/Marina. Very good food, very good service, great low cost meals, and exceptionally clean dining rooms and restrooms. I recommend both.

Very good post. The bass fishing has been very sporadic. One day really good followed by days that are horrible. I feel as Bill eluded to that the fishing is hung in that limbo period down there and it's fixin to get good, especially when those water temps drop a few more degrees.
Well, when it fires up, you all mind dropping me a line? This week whipped my butt. I need a good couple trips to gain some self respect again. ([email protected])
Sure will, I'm not a striper fisherman but always talk to everybody when I'm down. I saw one little jump Saturday morning and it didn't last long. The big C can sure humble a guy at times that's for sure, lol. But when it's on you can be dancing in the boat, we'll hang in there.Well, when it fires up, you all mind dropping me a line?
