Surely there must be someone that wants to go sauger fishing below the Newburgh, IN **** on the Ohio River.

Retired and ready to fish on weekdays. Problem is, my buddies are still working and only available on weekends. Hate to fish alone and it’s the pits to launch by yourself, especially if there is no dock. So, anyone interested in partnering up? We can use my boat or yours and split fuel/bait cost. Mine is a Lund, 17 footer with a 90 HP Merc.
I normally fish at Newburgh Dam. I live on the East side of Evansville, thus the dam on about a 20 minute drive for me. My preference is to fish on Mondays and Fridays and I like to be on the water early, early, and early.
Anyone interested?
Gary

Gary,
I'm retired also and like to sauger fish. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I just got access to post. I live 2 1/2 hrs north of you, but would like to get together and do some fishing. My wife and I have sauger fished Markland a few times and fished the tenn. river quite abit. Let me know if you have been doing any good.

Looks like my sauger fishing is over for this year. Drove by Newburgh Dam Sunday PM and found the water is up and if it comes up ~3 more feet, it will be into the parking lot. Also, they have pulled the dock out for this season. With no dock and a swift current, it is tough to launch or retrieve a boat.
To make matters worse, the water is VERY MUDDY. Never have had any luck catching sauger in muddy water. Given that and the additional rain we have had and that which is forecast, it just doesn’t look good for the balance of this season.
Maybe next season?

Not likely I will go again this season (see post obove), unless it is from the bank and then only if the river conditions get right.
