Put in at Gwinns at 8:30 , water temp was 47. I started fishing my normal spots with tubes and jigs and got one hit and missed it then moved over to shallower water and started throwing a med running crank bait real slow.
First keeper in the boat on the bank behind prison. Moved up to docks across from Nelsons second keeper in the boat on crankbait. Move up to the bank behind condos at Paradise made a cast under a over hanging tree, two cranks of the handle and she nailed it, ten minutes later in the net she goes 6lbs 8oz and amost 24" ( my biggest bass on Herrington to date) on down that bank and one more keeper.
Water temp at Paradise was 49, Took out at 2:30 and oh ya big fish went back and wow I had fogotten just how big of mouth those fish have there. And all the fish I caught were between 4' and 8' deep.

Nice work!
How was the wind at Herrington today? It seemd to be kicking up pretty good here (Louisville) in the afternoon
Awesome man.. Those herrington fish are a breed all of there own. Nice fish and all I have to say is it's never to cold to crank . I didn't hear my phone ring or I could have gone with you and took your pictures Lol..![]()
Hey Bandit did you get that boat cleaned up lmao i know that was just killing you being dirty like that lol......![]()
That is one of the reasons I went there that lake runs north, south ,east and west and with those high cliff walls you can most always find some were out of the wind, thay may not be on the best banks but you can fish.
Banditman all my big fish are camra shy, if there is a camra in the boat the big fish won't come out and play. It would have been nice to have had a net man that fish came on a light action rod so there was no horsing her.
Great trip! What was the water color like? And what color crankbait? My son and I have not fished Herrington yet... any general location/pattern tips for this lake for LM/SM?
Glad you got a good one. I got blowed off CC yesterday. Water temp has fallen from 46 - 39 and 40 degrees. Caught one fish all day long. Yea, Cedar is tough to get out of the wind on. Good to see some action on Herrington. Its close by for me and Id love to fish it, I just didnt know how to fish it in winter.
Crankbaits and shallow water, you say? In January?
