Yeah - the pledge thing is pushing it - I never understood that one.

I am all set for fishing - Just got back from the Jim Strader show. Sure - I will get the beer - or if we switch it to bourbon the girls don't have to be near as hot!
I just wish crappie and bass turned on at different times. It seems when everyone is wearing out the crappie here - it is right in the middle of prime bass time.

"One nation under God" was added to the pledge in the 1950's (1954?) during the McCarthy era.

Hey, I don't mind a beer or three after fishing, so if you gents need a designated boat driver, I'm your man. I'll also watch out for your best interests and warn you before you pick up any not so hot babes :-)

    Devils Horse: Great post.

Not to be confused with communism, my uncle wanted to start a party called common sense-ism cause there sure doesn't seem to be much common sense in government.

    Andrew,
IMO...No matter what party or what candidate we could ever bring up, the fact that they change as needed or advised during their political run is the only quarantee we will ever get from these guys.
I have a mental check list of certain things I cannot vote for and if they cross those lines then their out. I have to overlook some things because if I didn't I wouldn't be able to vote! It gets tough standing by certain beliefs...that's for sure.

I believe 48 is the number beers it would take for Rich D. to vote Dem. Only 36 for him to vote McCain. lol

Curious about 48 too. Come on PL, have mercy on us pore ole redneck hillbillies and lay it on us. Maybe I could parlay your wisdom into enough bar bets to buy me some shoes and dentures.
    Does the answer lie below?:

Forty-eight is a double factorial of 6, a highly composite number. Like all other multiples of 6, it is a semiperfect number. 48 is the second 17-gonal number.

48 is the first number of the form (24.q) and is in abundance having an aliquot sum of 76. It is the lowest composite number to fall into the 41-aliquot tree having the 7 aliquot number sequence,(48, 76 , 64, 63, 41, 1, 0). 48 is highly abundant with an aliquot sum 158% higher than itself.

48 is the smallest number with exactly ten divisors.

    There are 11 solutions to the equation φ(x) = 48, namely 65, 104, 105, 112, 130, 140, 144, 156, 168, 180 and 210. This is more than any integer below 48, making 48 a highly totient number.

    48 is in base 10 a Harshad number. It has 24, 2, 12,and 4 as factors.
