    Bass Pro Got Me

Well I went over to basspro today and spent a small fortune. I think I spent around $1,300.00 and all I got was reels. Now I need to figure out how to get over there and buy new rods without you know who finding out. Got the new Revo baitcast and got the pt energy spincast. Any recomendation on the rods? Guy there said the new shimanos were the best warranty out there. Free trade if one breaks. Is that true and if so how many times? Was looking a loomis but don't know about spending another 1,200--2,000 right now.

I like and use the Basspro shop Extreme baitcast rods. Only draw back is, they only have a year warrenty. They are a good rod for the money. I also have a Shimano Crucial for the Carolina rig. It has an over the counter lifetime warrenty.

The rod I use for shakey heads is a 6'8" med action extra fast Shimano Crucial. For drop shoting I use a GLoomis Mag med shakey head rod.

See what happens when you go just to look

I own many nice rods but don't want to make brand based recommendations without knowing what you plan to fish for and what applications. What type applications are you looking for???

Try T & T Custom Rods, I swear by them and they come with a 1 year warranty. Lightest MH rod you'll ever pick up and Tim puts Titanium rod guides on his Custom Rods. Give him a call at 502-553-1101, tell him Clyde said give you a call about some different rod style for your different types of fishing. He'll fix you right up with every thing you need to go along with them new reels.....

Hey BigRod...Man I'll tell you what buddy...If I had a blue ribbon I'd give it to ya...1300.00 dollars and all you got was reels? Shazaam!!!

I have a Shimano Crucial and as of this writing have not had to test the warranty...but I have been told by more than one source that no matter what happens to your rod, maybe you shut the tail gate on it, maybe it gets caught in a window being rolled up, maybe your wife breaks it in two, whatever the case may be, bring the rod back for a replacement right there at Bass Pro and they'll hand you another one to replace it with at no additional cost. This is what I've been told anywya. Mine is as light as a feather, there are nicer rods on the market such as G-Loomis, Kistler Helium's, etc...but for the money AND the warranty I really like the Shimano Crucial series. Of course this all depends on the task you'll be using each specific rod for...maybe you want one set up for strictly crankbaits...I haven't used one but I have been told that for the money ($59.95 or so), the Bass Pro Crankin' Stick makes for a mighty nice crankbait setup. It's supposed to be fairly light in the hand and has a slow tip, which gives the bass time to inhale the bait before the hookset.

Also, if you're looking for a really feather light rod you might want to check out the new Carrot Sticks...I don't think Bass Pro sells them but you can probably do a search on google and find them.

I hope this helps you out.

    Re: Bass Pro Got Me

I have taken the extreme rods back long after the year warranty has expired and they have never failed to swap them out. They really stand behind their rods and reels. I wouldn't buy anything else. They even swapped a BPS reel for me last week that was probably out of warranty. For the price, customer service and product quality I have received from BPS Clarksville,IN I would not buy anywhere else. I own in excess of 20 combos bought from there.

Reels are the same, in terms of warrantee. I have taken a couple of reels back that have malfunctioned (well over a year) - and they have given me a new one.
