I would go with a large protected creek at the north end of KY so you could give yourself options. This way you can put in and tie off or consider trailering to Barkley.

Trying to get a trip together for mid to late May to Kentucky Lake or Barkley. It will be the first time on either of these lakes. Wanting to catch bream, crappie and hopefully some sauger. We'll probably be camping in a tent. The problem is these lakes are so big I have no clue as to where to go. Which lake and where on the lake are some favorites of everyone.

I just came back from a yearly trip that a group of us have been taking for about 4 years now so I haven't been there much but I did see some tents at a campground in the back right side of Fords Bay. It looked like a good place and the fishing there was good (at least for Bass). Others on here may know better spots. Good luck...
You might try the Canal campground also LBL has several campgrounds with lake access in many different bays.....Good Luck!!
Right ,all the LBL campgrounds look great or you can camp LBL backcounty $5 FOR 3days or $20 all year![]()
